oppression or democracy

Da Vinci code is banned in TN. Why? It offends some people. Didn't Boys "offend" more people? Doesn't SJS offend more people? Anything for a vote!

All these politicians need a crash course on democracy! Better yet, just a crash! :-)

They need to take care, if this goes on, some higher power might decide that the country needs to be "relieved" of such oppressors and deliver "freedom".

Would that be good or bad? hmm!

Did you assume both were same governments?

Which 2? I didn't assume anything.

The govt that allowed Boys and the Govt. that banned Da Vinci Code....

I said...

Democracy does not necessarily equate with Free Speech or Freedom.

Munimma :)

Since when did "democracy" get practised in the true sense of the term in India or any country for that matter? If religion or any other factor could stir up the masses, so be it. Thats how it has been, it is and will always be.

Good to run into your blogsite :). Let me see if you can guess who I am.

this is heights...Guess the govt is getting into more and more of such silly issues.

It doesn't matter which govt it is. They all are the same underneath their flag colors.

Democracy and power play seem to go hand in hand, oxymoronic

this even after the disclaimer was put! just an opportunity for the religious leaders to stir up some controversy and get on tv and for KK to prove that he 'listens' to the minorities.

I said the same thing somewhere and I was accused of being a Hindu fanatic. Oh well.... that is well known about this Goundar... I suggested they should ban all movies and songs as these offend quite a few who follow holy books.

BTW, I know who Altoid is... Is a new Slave Owner...;)

Hey uppili, Good to see you around. :-)
Munimma - read Da Vinci - seriously do not understand the bruhaha surrounding this book. Banning that book is amusing to put it mildly, and I thought India was a democracy not many countries could touch with a 12 foot pole!

Indian democracy is defined as a Government for the politicians, by the Majority, and of the minority.

Really funny that RSS being the true moral police that they are - supported the christian minority groups only to be dubbed the fanatic nationalists when FIRE V2 is released ! ;)
