Transcreation?

That's the word. It is very popular in India and has been for some time. That is, localizing a concept, in this (check Ravikumar's blog) case, a superhero, Spiderman. The word is new, but the concept is old, at least for us.

We have been "Indianizing" quite a few heroes, that this is no big deal. This is probably one of first legitimate ones though.

Ask the music directors and movie directors there, they would give good pointers on how to go about it.
