Are you a paraskevidekatriaphobe

Are you wondering what the h am I talking about?
That's the fancy Greek term for people who fear Friday the 13th. Paraskevi is the Greek word for Friday, and dekatria is how Greeks say 13. Phobe, as you might have guessed, relates to phobia.

Why do people make a big fuss about this day? Urban legend or superstition?
Reading the above link, it is funny to see how people attach luck to specific things. I guess I do too. But certainly not to such an extent. Not enough to stop me from going about with life.

Friday is auspicious to a lot of us. We get paid this day, why would that be not good? ;-)

Anyway, I consider this date to be lucky for me. I have 11 years of a wholesome marriage as proof!

It somehow looks like a word that could have indic origins (the "paras" in it). Even three or troika came from "tri" in Samskrit and so it will be nice to study the etymology of such words.

11 years? We should get in line to take advice from a veteran :-)

Usually we get paid on the Thursdays, even though Friday is the official pay day.
